Overview and background of Radio Controlled Nitro Cars
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010Radio-controlled or Nitro RC cars are usually categorized as either “toy” or “hobby” grade. There are usually two types of control of a model either by wire connection or by radio transmission ie transmitter to the car. This article focuses on the radio-controlled vehicle category, both toy and hobby grades.
Fuel-powered engines permit model automobiles to reach moderate speeds unmodified. Maximum power is at middle to high speeds, and a marginally slower throttle respond than electrically powered autos is expected due to grabbing and lack of torque.
Nitro RC engines cars, like full-sized gas engines, take time for the engine to spool up and for the clutch to engage. Nitro powered automobiles may be refueled and returned to activeness in two seconds, wholly air cooled, and will be run steadily with no necessity to take breaks for cooling down ( while they are correctly tuned ). Nitro-powered autos operate like full-sized fuel vehicles employing a 2 stroke engine. The sound of the engine and frequently higher stock top speeds are main selling points towards nitro fans. This, in turn, wants more cleaning generally done by trying compressed air nozzles and solvents. Tuning a fuel-powered car desires learning to assert perfect implementation and fuel use, and to attenuate engine wear and overheating, even in ready-to-run vehicles. Running a nitro-fuel motor without tuning or tuning badly can hurt performance in rich conditions.
Cars are powered by assorted sources. Electric cars are powered by small but powerful electric motors and rechargeable nickel-cadmium, nickel alloy hydride, or lithium polymer cells. There are also brushed or brushless electric motors. Most fuel-powered models use glow plug engines, small internal combustion engines fueled by a special mixture of nitromethane, methanol, and oil (in most cases a blend of castor oil and synthetic oil). These are referred to as “nitro” cars. latterly, exceptionally large models have been introduced that are powered by small gasoline engines, similar to weedwhacker motors, which use a mix of oil and gasoline. Electric cars are generally considered easier for the novice to work with compared to fuel-driven models, but can be equally as complex at the higher budget and achievement levels.
